SIMMEC engages independent contractors for SOF Medic SMEs, Veterinarians, and Professional Role Players supporting tactical and operational medicine training events. If you have the credentials and a bias for action, send your CV.
Independent Contract Positions
Three Roles. One Mission.
All positions are 1099 independent contractor. Engagements are per-event, scaled to our course and exercise-support calendar. CONUS travel may be required.
SOF Medic SME — OC/T
Embed with SIMMEC courses as an instructor and/or partner exercises as an Observer Coach/Trainer and subject matter expert. Train, evaluate, mentor, and validate medical performance against published standards.
What we look for:
- Current or recent SOF medical experience (75th Ranger Regiment, Special Forces, MARSOC, 160th SOAR, Pararescue, Special Mission Units, or equivalent)
- 18D, SOCM, ATP, or equivalent military medical qualification
- Operational deployment experience preferred
- Comfort instructing and evaluating mixed-tier audiences
Veterinarian
Provide on-site veterinary oversight of SIMMEC Advanced Medical Training operations under AAALAC accreditation and IACUC-approved protocols.
What we look for:
- DVM from an AVMA-accredited institution
- State licensure and DEA license
- Comfort working under IACUC-approved protocols in a research or training setting
- DACLAM is a plus
Professional Role Player
Portray casualties, civilians, opposing force, or other roles in lane-level and exercise-level training events. Hold cover under stress and respond to provider cues.
What we look for:
- Physically capable of sustained activity in austere or field conditions
- Comfortable with minor invasive procedures (IVs, etc.) taking direction with simulated injuries
- Prior military, law enforcement, EMS is a plus
- Regional availability for CONUS travel events

What To Expect
Engagement Terms.
1099 Independent Contractor
All positions are paid on a 1099 basis. No employment relationship is created. Tax responsibilities rest with the contractor.
Per-Event Engagement
Work is scheduled per course or exercise. Pay is fixed against scope, role, duration, and travel.
CONUS Travel
SIMMEC delivers at resident sites and as Mobile Training Teams.
Rolling Roster
Submissions are kept on file. As contracts come up, we match against the active roster and reach out to qualified candidates.
